I listened to the latest episode of the SyncUp podcast about the new OneDrive feature: Audio overviews. And I thought I’d give it a try.

Using the feature to learn about the feature ⚙️
To create the above playable AI-generated mp3 audio file, I copied the written transcript from the full, original 32 minute 21 second episode of SyncUp, “Audio overviews in OneDrive” and pasted it into a blank Word .docx, saving it to my own work OneDrive. From the new Word doc’s “…” menu, I chose: Copilot > Create an audio overview > Switch to podcast style. I then clicked on the “Save to OneDrive” option, saving the mp3 to my Recordings folder. This new, AI-gen’ed version is a 9 minute 25 second podcast with two AI-voiced hosts. Last, I uploaded this unedited, as-Copilot-created mp3 file into Substack, published as an “audio post.”
My take 🤔
Audio overviews in OneDrive provide enough of what you need to know about, but not necessarily master. A few scenarios: It’ll be great for SOWs if I’m coming in mid-project, revisiting key points in a project proposal before the next call, or digesting a set of supporting documents. Get informed and save time. Reserve your deep, full, end-to-end reads when you need to be the absolute subject matter expert.
